Our objectives

Every patient affected by lung cancer deserves to have the opportunity to be cured, to live as long as possible, and to enjoy the best quality of life as possible. This relies on timely access to the best available diagnostics and treatments. However, access to lung cancer treatment and care varies enormously across Europe.

The LuCE Access to Treatment Atlas has been developed to help patient advocates navigate these disparities.

The Atlas is an interactive tool that aims to provide advocates with the information, evidence and resources to work effectively on access issues. It currently contains information collected from more than 30 European countries, and can be filtered by medicine, country or other parameters including indicated biomarker, lung cancer type, stage of disease and line of treatment.

The information contained in the Atlas can be used to support the drafting of strategies to overcome access barriers at the country level. It is not intended to provide medical advice or to recommend specific treatments. The decision on the most appropriate treatment for you or your loved one must be made in consultation with your healthcare team.

The Access to Treatment Atlas has been developed by Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE), in collaboration with selected external partners, including the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), European Respiratory Society (ERS) and European Lung Foundation (ELF), European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and The From Testing to Targeted Treatments (FT3).

In future, the Atlas may expand to include other relevant indicators for access to lung cancer treatment, such as access to screening programmes and clinical trials.
